MOD SILVER AWARDS LUNCHEON – 24 SEPTEMBER 2026
The NE RFCA Annual Silver Awards presentation took place at Hotel Indigo, Durham yesterday, where our President, Ms Lucy Winskell, Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, presented 12 North East employers with the MoD’s Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Award.
Before enjoying a celebratory lunch, Colonel Gordon Straughan, Chair NE RFCA, welcomed our President Ms Lucy Winskell, our Vice President and Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, Brig Mike Butterwick, and our valued employers who were receiving their Silver Awards. Col Straughan stated It was both an honour and a pleasure to be their host at this event and thanked them for making the time and effort in their busy schedules to attend.
The occasion was dedicated to celebrating and recognising our most recent recipients of the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Award, marking their significant achievement in progressing from Bronze to Silver, and provided an opportunity to thank them for the invaluable support they give not only to NE RFCA, but, more importantly, to the wider Armed Forces community- many of whom they employ and support directly.
The Silver Award is the penultimate accolade Defence can bestow upon employers, reserved for those organisations who demonstrate an exceptionally high level of commitment.
Our Silver Awardees are: Barnard Castle School, Carbon Arc Training and Certification Limited, Darlington Building Society, Incluscape, K2 Construction Management, Mantank Environmental Services Limited, Newmedica Newcastle, Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd, RIGHT TRAX Ltd, Sarens UK Ltd, Tees Valley Combined Authority, Veterans for Veterans in Care
