10 NORTH EAST EMPLOYERS have been awarded Gold for their support to the Armed Forces - the highest badge of honour available under the MOD’s Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.

The Band of The Rifles was due to perform a concert in Wharton Park, Durham, on Saturday 13th June marking the occasion they were granted the Freedom of the City of Durham in 2008. Unfortunately the events planned for this weekend to reinforce the links between The Rifles and communities in the North East had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Virtual Dual ACF Signings
While COVID-19 restrictions continue to shape the way we live and work safely, it also means coming up with inventive ways to circumvent it and on Wednesday 3 June 2020, the NE RFCA organised the very first dual, virtual Armed Forces Covenant signing by supportive employers from the North of England RFCA and Yorkshire and The Humber RFCA.

A group of Air Cadets and their adult volunteers are flying on cloud nine having been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.
