Commenting on the announcement of the 2021 Employer Recognition Scheme Silver awards, Minister for Defence People and Veterans, Leo Docherty MP, said:

“I would like to thank all the organisations who have proven their support for the Defence community during such unprecedented and challenging times.

“The vast range of those recognised this year demonstrates how employing the Armed Forces community makes a truly positive and beneficial impact for all employers, regardless of size or sector.”

Steve Richards, CEO, Parkdean Resorts, said:

“Receiving the Silver Award so soon after signing the Armed Forces Covenant and registering for Employer Recognition Scheme is testament to how much our teams have embraced this partnership. We feel passionately about supporting our Armed Forces and we’ve already made great progress, so we’re determined to keep working hard together as we push for ERS Gold next.”

James Ramsbotham, Chief Executive, North East England Chamber of Commerce, said:

“We are honoured to be awarded this tremendous recognition of our work in supporting veterans from our defence forces to gain employment. As a former soldier myself I absolutely understand the challenges some people feel about entering the civilian workplace. Our veterans have served their country and have a huge range of skills which will benefit companies. It is important they are able to develop their careers outside of the forces and we are delighted to play our part in making this happen. I would also encourage other businesses to join us by supporting veterans in a similar way."
