Eleven organisations from across our region, who in 2014 achieved ERS Silver Awards for their support of the Armed Forces, have had their Silver Awards revalidated.
These companies were invited to attend a Royal Gun Salute in York, to celebrate the birthday of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, after which a Reception was held where Mr Andrew Coombe, HM Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, presented them with their revalidated Silver Awards. The revalidation awards are a public recognition by Defence of the organisations’ continued efforts to support the Armed Forces community. As Mrs Jill Williamson said, "It was a great day out and great for all of us to be recognised in this way. The Band was brilliant (The King's Division led by Major S Halliday) and the Gun Salute fantastic (provided by 4th Regiment RA, 3/29 (Corunna) Battery).
