The North of England Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association held its AGM at HMS CALLIOPE, South Shore Road, Gateshead on Friday 27 April 2018.
The formal business of the AGM included the election of a new Chairman, Col Gordon Straughan OBE TD. Members received a final update from the outgoing Chairman, Lt Gen Robin Brims CB CBE DSO DL, and presentations from the various sections of the Maritime Reserves.
At the close of the meeting, Col Straughan, pictured right, presented certificates and cheques to the winners and runners-up in the Fairclough PR Trophy Competition, which is open to all Reserve Units within the Association area, and the Green Howards PR Trophy Competition for Cadet Units across the region; both competitions are an annual event.
The winner of the Fairclough Trophy was 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, with HMS CALLIOPE a very close runner-up. Maj Chris Hall, Bn PRO, received the trophy, to hold for a year, and a cheque for £250, on behalf of 5RRF.
The overall winner of the Green Howard’s Trophy was Northumbria ACF and Lt Clare Lomas, PRO Northumbria ACF, received the Trophy, to hold for a year, and a cheque for £250 on behalf of Northumbria ACF.
