Longbenton Air Cadets Land First Place!

The young people fought-off tough competition in ceremonial drill, banner drill, first aid, media and aircraft recognition. It was the consistent performance of the Longbenton youngsters across all disciplines that landed them in first place.
Cadet Tom Bell, 17, said; “We were really looking forward to Competitions Day but nervous about taking part. We work well as a team and knew that we would do well if we all perform to the high standards that we have, which meant that we finished third in the drill competition – the squadron’s highest ever position!
Squadron Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Gary Richardson, set the young air cadets the challenge of organising themselves for the competition. “The majority of our young people have been with us for over 3½ years,” said Gary. “They are a very smart, capable and intelligent bunch and I have every confidence in them. They took ownership of the preparing for the competition and performed to the high standards expected and I am incredibly proud of their achievement.”
This is the first time that the Longbenton Squadron has won the Wing Competitions Day.
